How can we stop the demise of the Bornean Orang-Utan?

The Orang Utan was recently declared as critically endangered, 1 step away from extinct in the wild. Even though Orang Utans live on the 3rd largest island in the world and are our one of our closest relatives, they suffer dearly from deforestation and the illegal wildlife trade. This interesting article highlights the issue of deforestation caused by Palm Oil, agriculture and forest fires caused by humans and asks if the demise of the Orang Utan can be halted by science.
